Reunion Weekend Fun Run

At the request of the ex-cadet club, here is some info on a new event they are planning for the week-end:

You may have noticed in this week’s edition of e-Veritas that a “Fun Run” around Fort Henry Hill is planned for the afternoon of Saturday, October 1. The core of the event is a small group of ex-cadets who are entering the Old Brigade this year, and have undertaken to re-run the old Cadet Wing Harriers run on the day they join that senior group.
But the run is intended to be more than that – it is an opportunity for cadets from all generations to join together for an enjoyable run that they experienced years ago. It will also include the College Harriers team and other present-day cadets.
It is not a race – times will not be recorded and no prizes will be awarded – although if individuals or groups wish to challenge themselves, they are welcome to do so. Afterwards, there will be a casual get-together for all participants at a nearby mess to mix and talk about the run and the college.
Please note that the start of the event has changed from the originally published 1400 hours to 1500 hours. This timing coordinates better with the other College activities going on that afternoon.
The start and end points remain the same – in front of the flagpole on the parade square. A map of the route is attached.
Please make your classmates aware of this event and encourage them to join us for the run. Advise them to contact me at the address below to register so that we can keep a handle on the numbers. The more the merrier!

CMR Reunion Weekend - 9 to 11 September

Tournoi annuel de pétanque de la classe 96

Date : Samedi 10 septembre 2011
Heure : 13 h -17 h

René Poulin : poulin.traversy@gmail.com; Michael Andrews : andrews.michael@gmail.com Danic Parenteau : parenteau@gmail.com; Ian Parenteau : ian@parenteau.info

Méchoui du Club des Anciens

Suite à cette activité, nous vous proposons de demeurer sur place pour prendre part à un méchoui organisé par le Club des Anciens. Si vous souhaitez participer au méchoui, vous devez remplir le formulaire suivant :

http://www.rmcclub.ca/StJean/PDFs/R%C3%A9servation%202011%20CMR%20St-Jean.pdf

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello dear friends of Class'96,

The upcoming Ex-Cadets weekend (10-11 September 2011) will be the 20th anniversary of our arrival to CMR in August 1991. For this occasion, we had the idea to organize a special activity. We thus propose the 1st edition of the annual ''pétanque'' tournament of Class '96.

Annual Pétanque Tournament of Class '96

Date: Saturday, September 10, 2011
Hour: 13h-17h
Where: Behind St-Maurice's Mess at CMR (old catholic chapel)

To properly plan this event, we would like to have an idea of how many people will be present. If you are not sure to be there but think you might, let us know and we will take into account the number of people who think they might be there.

So, if you want to register for the petanque tournament, send an e-mail to one of the organizers at one of the following addresses :

René Poulin : poulin.traversy@gmail.com; Michael Andrews : andrews.michael@gmail.com Danic Parenteau : parenteau@gmail.com; Ian Parenteau : ian@parenteau.info

Méchoui Ex-Cadets Club

After this activity, we propose to stay on the site to take part to a méchoui organized by the Ex-Cadets Club. If you wish to participate to the méchoui, you must fill the following form:

http://www.rmcclub.ca/StJean/PDFs/R%C3%A9servation%202011%20CMR%20St-Jean.pdf

You must return it to the address indicated in the document before September 2nd 2011. You must do the same for all other activities organized by the Ex-Cadets Club during that week-end. All activities are of course open to all. You will find attached the schedule of all activities for the Ex-Cadets week-end.

Stay in a PMQ

It is possible to sleep at CMR on the Saturday night, as we have reserved two PMQ at CMR. A total of 7 rooms are available, but they are quite large, so it may be possible to sleep a lot of people in one PMQ (as the last broomball tournament week-end demonstrated). So, Don't forget to let us know of your intention to stay in the PMQ when you respond in your e-mail. We will coordinate all logistic details.

Also, for those who have a Facebook profile, we invite you to consult the page dedicated to the event at the following address : https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=159616197447339

Hoping to see you in great numbers! Don't hesitate to distribute widely this invitation to all fellow classmates that are not on our list.

REUNION WAS A BLAST!

Great to see everyone that could make it out for reunion - we had a fantastic turnout despite being what many refer to as the 'Class Without Class'! Check out the Reunion site for photos etc. Once again a big thanks to Zoomer who put it all together.

I promised not to mention the Class Gift anymore but we are so close Jeff / Zoomer is trudging ahead hoping that the money pledged plus a bit more comes in by the end of October. Send in your money to ensure that Class of 96 and the three colleges we started from get recognised in a rightful space above the new cadet drinking mess... maybe we can make a reunion tradition to meet at the bar under our window... Check out the Class Gift site for more info.

Remember that the search continues to get in touch with all of our classmates and to send me your contact info if it changes.

I heard some great ideas for our class at reunion - anyone wanting to take on a project is totally welcome. Two of the bigger ones are:
-a way for people to get in touch without going through me and without spreading personal info everywhere
- to find a meeting place for us in Ottawa for monthly TGIFs

Thanks for all of the support and see you again in 2011! I'll update this site occasionally in the meantime.
